After noting the similarity in spirit and pure joy of craftsmanship between the Office of Ray + Charles Eames and Santa's Workshop, I created this series to celebrate the season of giving, making and wonder.
Originally rumored to travel by sleigh, Santa has recently been spotted cruising in style on a 1957 Harley Sportster. This little print is also the first collaboration between the Mr. and myself. Pick one up for yourself in the shop!
When I decided to offer custom family portraits for the holidays this year, I didn't anticipate all of the fun and awesomeness that is the Corcoran Clan. Nor did I predict that by having a brief glimpse into their lives and personalities, the task of capturing the special qualities of each family member (dogs included of course!) would be so special and fulfilling.
Jacqueline's amazing sense of style and background in product development made her an absolute joy to work with, but it was her brilliant art direction that truly made this project shine.
She and her family were in the process of moving into a mid-century modern home in Charleston, which was according to Jacqueline, "Not exactly the home of mid-century style - and probably why we are embracing it so fully". Have I already mentioned how cool this family is? If not, point proven!
So, when they requested a Palmetto Moon tree as a nod to their beautiful state, I looked for a way to incorporate the symbol without losing the mid-century aesthetic....and the "Palmetto Malm" was born! The rest of the crew shine without explanation, and I feel that the overall composition highlights the sweet and easy nature of this special family.
Thank you Jacqueline, and the rest of the Corcoran Crew, for the privilege and opportunity to capture your family in a special way and all of the joy that accompanied the process. Oh, and Jacqueline, your idea for the post-move, post-post-holiday portrait was so funny I nearly shot wine out of my nose when I read it! Cheers!:)
Phwew! We are currently using a Malm-style fireplace, chair and tree in the illustration, but I am happy to add elements to make it distinctly yours.

We are currently using PEACE+LOVE for the Greeting and from: The YourName Clan 2013, but please let us know if you would like to switch it up!

After I receive your photos, links and expert creative direction, I will get to work capturing your family in a way you’ve never been captured. You will receive the first proof within 7 days and your finished product within 7-10 days of approval. Envelope color will be chosen at this time and cards will be insured and shipped via USPS Priority mail unless requested otherwise.
ABOUT YOUR CARDS:
Your cards will be locally and expertly printed by my trusted printer on thick matte coated natural white paper for a silky luxurious feel. Inside is blank.
Cards are A7 (5x7 when folded) and come with matching envelopes in the color of your choice.
Portrait layout shown (7” height x 5” wide), let us know if you prefer landscape (7” wide x 5” height)

It's been a crazy summer moving both my illustration studio and our home into one live-work loft that was in need some TLC...but sometimes a little Before + After makes the madness all seem worthwhile. Here is a little sneak peak starting with the risers to our new loft a.k.a. 'The Treehouse'.
My Husband is a land-locked surfer, so I thought I would create a little sea-inspired entrance to our new nest. I topped it off with one of his old surfboards to help tide him over until we can get back to the sea...terrible pun, I know.
